Our Birthday Book Club promotes a sense of excitement about books, which in turn supports reading and learning year round and outside of the classroom.

What is the Birthday Book Club?
Van Arsdale’s Birthday Book Club is a voluntary program designed to enrich the school’s library collection while giving our students and their families an opportunity to be a part of the library. Please consider celebrating your child's birthday by giving a gift donation, a new book, to our library. It's a wonderful way to remember your child's special day, and your gift will be shared and enjoyed by Van Arsdale students for years to come! Donations ensure that our library continues to grow.
How does the Birthday Book Club work?
During your child’s birthday month or on their half-birthday donate $18.00 to “Van Arsdale Library” in honor of your child's birthday. In return, your child will receive a personalized book plate (placed in the front cover of their chosen book) honoring their birthday. They are also the first student who will check out their book!
Does my child keep the book?
No. Your $18.00 donation helps to offset the cost of purchasing books for our school library, and the book your child chooses becomes part of our permanent library collection. Your child does not keep the book, but will be the first one to check out the book. When your child returns the book, it will be available to all students at Van Arsdale. Students always enjoy looking at the book plates honoring a student's birthday.
What if we don't receive an invitation?
Fill out the Birthday Book Club form anyway! We want all students to be able to participate!
When will the celebrations occur?
Here is the schedule we will follow. If your child is absent, or unable to attend during their scheduled month, we can celebrate them in the next month or at their half-birthday.
