Academic Support
Our number one priority at Van Arsdale Elementary School is to provide an excellent learning opportunity that meets the needs of each student. We strive to create an equitable learning environment in all content areas. We use research-based practices and curriculum. Teachers participate in ongoing learning through diverse professional development.
When a student is not responding to tier one universal instruction, we provide differentiation and intervention in the classroom. We track student growth using multiple data points. If a student is not responding to intervention provided by the classroom teacher, we work to find a solution that supports their academic growth while also providing the least restrictive environment.
Core Curriculum
Van Arsdale uses a guaranteed and viable curriculum for tier one universal instruction. This ensures that all students are receiving research-based instruction in all content areas.

Interventions
Reading
If a student is not meeting grade-level expectations in the area of reading, teachers alongside our paraprofessionals will provide targeted intervention using the 95% Group and Orton Gilligham. These interventions focus on foundational literacy skills as well as fluency practice to provide students with the necessary instruction to close any gaps in literacy.
Math
If a student is not meeting grade-level expectations in the area of math, teachers alongside our paraprofessionals will provide targeted intervention using the Georgia Numeracy Project. This intervention provides quick and engaging lessons designed to target any gaps in students' understanding of numbers and their ability to use numbers to solve problems.
